Vinted Members Share Displeasure About Size Modifications

Vinted users have been reacting angrily after an update resulted in listings displaying inaccurate size information.

The popular resale platform has updated its measurement guidelines for women's and children's garments failing to inform all users about the change.

Online Platforms Backlash

Numerous buyers and vendors have taken to social media claiming that product pages now present a different size category compared to what was initially listed due to the recalibration.

The company said the revised method more closely matches similar services.

They have suggested members to examine their items and update the measurements by hand if necessary, causing user dissatisfaction.

Size Classification Updates

Earlier, the measurements included one number and one letter, such as S/8 or M/10.

The new system has a letter and a range for example S/UK 8-10.

With some products, the sizing has been recategorised - for example a size L was previously a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.

User Stories

A fashion influencer, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".

"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.

A different member, located in Scotland, explained products she uploaded with size 14 tags were displaying on the service as larger sizing 20-22.

"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they're going to be very disappointed," she stated.

Required Changes

Another shopper, located in England, said she had been left angered due to the update requiring manual adjustment the measurements for "each individual item".

"Personally, this is quite irritating, because of my ongoing medical condition and selling on Vinted has been paramount for me since losing part of my income," she explained.

Platform Context

The platform boasts over 100 million users, with 18 million British users.

It has proved a popular alternative versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.

This isn't the first time where an unanticipated change within the service has received backlash: last year, the service retracted a modification regarding delivery choices following member complaints.
